Join your Venetian neighbors in the Campo della Maddalena where they catch up on family and the news. Or, just watch out your windows to see Venice go by on the Maddalena bridge and the canal that runs underneath it.

In an 18th century building in Cannaregio, the inviting apartment is on the third floor American with no elevator. It is easy to reach from the usual starting points in Venice by foot or vaporetto (water bus). And it is also a nice walk to the famous sites of the city.

The Grazie apartment is spacious and welcoming. The open living room has two large windows overlooking Ponte Maddalena. Between the windows is a large, handsome bureau. It is furnished with a comfortable, modern sofa bed that can accommodate one person. When you have a chance to settle into the apartment, you'll find charming small decorative touches around the apartment. The floor is terrazzo a marble conglomerate covered, cool in the summer, carpeted in the winter.

A dining table for four separates the living room area from the large kitchenette and serves for additional preparation space. The kitchen has a four burner stove top, electric oven and small refrigerator as well as plenty of cabinets and space for dishes, pots, pans and preparation items that are there for your use.

The bedroom, also large and luminous with a view of the Maddalena canal, is charmingly old fashioned and romantic. The head and footboards are beautiful antiques that have been joined to accommodate a modern queen sized mattress.

The large bathroom has a new, modern shower as well as a washing machine. A clothes line is just outside the windows. The bathroom overlooks the Maddalena canal that hosts smaller boats. You can watch the boats go by as you shave.

We have inspected this apartment. Our opinion:

Super location for getting around.
The Cannaregio area is a neighborhood of its own worth exploring.
The apartment has a homey Italian character.
The owner lives next door and does not intrude on his guests but also is happy to help if you need it. He has a nice little cocker spaniel and also smokes. If you are really allergic to smoke, stay away, but we are sensitive to both smoke and dog dander and didn't smell cigarettes while we photographed, nor did we react which we would if the dog spent time in the apartment.
The calle outside is on a main route through the city so you will likely hear passing foot traffic as well as gondolas and boats passing through the canals. No cars, however!
