part of Sienese history for more than four hundred
years. It offers comfortable and even elegant
apartments in both the aristocratic villa and in
farm buildings converted into charming vacation
cottages. A large swimming pool, a formal Italian
garden, cypress-lined lanes to wander are
everything you need for a perfect vacation in
Tuscany.
This lovely estate with noble villa and
attached farm is nestled in the
Chianti hills a 15 minute drive north of Siena. Views
across vines and olive trees are of Siena itself
and of medieval,
fortified properties on the surrounding hilltops.
Cypress-lined lanes march away from Villa Sofia
into the countryside, inviting you to wander.
The property has its own production of Chianti
Classico wine and olive oil which you may purchase
on site. If wine is of interest, you will find
yourself 20 to 30 minutes away from these famous
cities of wine: Gaiole, Radda and Greve in
Chianti. Neither is it far from other equally
charming localities, such as Montalcino, Pienza,
Montepulciano, and San Gimignano. The new Chianti
Sculpture Park is less than four miles away, a
nice biking distance. And Florence is just an
hour's drive.
The villa has been continuously owned by the
same noble family who will welcome you warmly when you
arrive. You will find a charming atmosphere, whether
swimming in the large pool, wandering the property
and the countryside, or using this villa as a base
to explore Tuscany. Inquire for bike rentals and

Unique and wonderful is the formal Italian garden
established in the 1800s when artists would join
the noble family to summer in the countryside.
Statues of the four seasons grace the
garden.
The villa offers elegant
apartments with frescoed walls and decorated ceilings. The farm, fattoria, is joined to
the villa and the renovated apartments and
separate cottages there are decorated in
comfortable, rustic Tuscan style with both family
antiques and reproduction furniture.
Restaurants and a local market are
five minutes away by car. Beyond is Siena with
anything you might need.
Weddings at Villa Sofia: The large threshing
floor with arched ceilings has been turned into a
lovely, open area perfect for wedding receptions. The
formal garden can also be set up for an outdoors
reception. The staff can organize the entire
wedding and reception for you. Inquire for

We have personally inspected and stayed at this property. Our
evaluation is:
- A very special location and property with
its views and diverse accommodations
- The variety of buildings, courtyards,
gardens, vineyards, olive groves,
cypress-lined lanes, and the views beyond
offer beauty and charm everywhere you turn. We
arrived on a foggy morning and were enchanted
as the sun burned away the fog revealing ever
widening vistas, each with something special
in the foreground.

countryside

suites to cozy cottages
- Furniture and accoutrements are generally
handsome, rustic, and simple.
