These fine vacation apartments in Rome,
Italy appeal to vacationers and business people.
With all the amenities you could wish for in an accommodation
in central Rome, you will find yourself steps away
from history while enjoying the comforts of home.
Convenience, amenities, and comfort typify
these vacation apartments in Rome, Italy. They have the best of apartment
living: room to spread out, ability to prepare
your own meals, and air conditioning plus the
conveniences of a hotel: a free breakfast buffet,
daily towel service, and a reception desk to help
you with reservations and directions. Also, short
stays are possible with a three night minimum most
times.
The Aureliana vacation apartments are in a walled
complex of fairly modern apartment buildings (@1960)
around the corner from St. Peters Basilica, and
200 yards from the Vatican City. Facing St
Peter's,
you go through the left side colonnade into a
large piazza with stores and busses that can take
you in any direction, then up the hill about two
blocks along the ancient Via Aurelia.
You are half
a mile from Trastevere, a typical, lively
quarter with loads of charm, great restaurants,
and entertaining street life. Also nearby is Cola di Rienzo, a favorite shopping street and
one the Romans patronize. Cola di Rienzo is also a
good area to sit in a café and watch the Italians
strutting their "bella figura" while you
enjoy your gelato. These luxurious apartments are right next to St
Peter's, its fabulous piazza, the neat little
streets filled with stores with religious items.
There is St Peter's basilica itself and you can easily get
in line early for the Vatican Museums (I actually
suggest getting a guide which will allow you to
bypass the line and will take you right to the
most interesting things, including the Sistine
chapel).
On the Via Aurelia, near these apartments, you
will find two food shops, both of which have a
selection of take-out items for the quickest
meals,
plus a small grocery store.
The apartments have air conditioning, important
in the summer, central heat, too, of course. They
have all the amenities: good TV reception, stereo,
VCR, nice towels changed daily (unusual for weekly
rentals), telephone, breakfast, kitchenette. They
are modern, comfortable and clean. The sofa beds
are comfortable.
One apartment is designed for
handicap access and use.
A reception desk is open
daytime to help you with any arrangements you want
and the breakfast room has a stunning view
of St Peter's dome. A lounge next to the
reception is a place to meet and have a drink.
Parking is available and this is
on the airport side of the city, so trips to
Leonardo da Vinci and Ciampino airports are faster
and easier than from locations deeper into the
city.
Available year-round, these vacation apartments
in Rome cater to a mixture of tourists and business people
on extended trips. They are in a walled complex of five buildings that have some small lawns
and a fountain. The ground floor apartments have
little gardens and the upper floors, balconies. Two
buildings house the vacation rentals and the rest
have year-round residents.
We have personally stayed in this property. Our
evaluation is:
- Very comfortable accommodations
- Reception staff is friendly
and helpful
- We loved the view from the breakfast room
and terrace
- The apartments are spacious and have all the
amenities
- Furniture and accoutrements are modern,
tasteful
- Apartments are immaculate and
tidy
- Weekday towel change, reception, and breakfast
add in hotel-type conveniences
- Location near St Peters is really great for
exploring this side of the Tiber; although you
can walk, taxi or bus to the other side of the
river will save your feet.
- Reception personnel are friendly and helpful
- Most apartments are quiet,
although several face Via Aurelia that
introduces some street noise. Train tracks pass near the building and an
early morning train woke our lightest sleeper;
the rest of us were undisturbed and remembered it only when the
she brought it up at breakfast.
