Apartments
Newly renovated, these first class apartments in
a noble palace are 20 steps from the Cathedral
square in Florence. Some have great views and you can step out the front door and admire
the Baptistery and Duomo in front of you.
Every time you step out of this building,
you'll be drawn 20 steps to the pedestrian-only
piazza that surrounds the landmark cathedral and baptistery
that are icons of Florentine art. You can
step around the corner to the large outdoor
marketplace around San Lorenzo. The train station
is about five blocks away and an easy walk. Santa
Maria Novella is four blocks away and so on; you
are really in the heart of things.
The building itself is a noble building with a
handsome entry and wide marble stairs that rise
past a huge, antique mirror. Apartments are on the
second and third floors with no elevator.
The apartments with their high ceilings are
peaceful symphonies of beige and white with bright
accent colors. Luxurious fabrics drape the beds
and windows. Wooden parquet floors throughout.
Antiques and comfortable, modern furniture are
mixed for a handsome effect.
From some of the apartments you can see the
dome of the cathedral or of the Medici chapels out
your windows. And, from the penthouse terrace, the
view is a life experience in itself, across the
red tiled rooftops to the nearby Duomo.
The apartments are all very quiet. The street
below carries traffic limited to residents,
businesses, and public transportation. Few of the
apartments actually overlook the street. On the
ground floor are a bookstore, a gelateria, and
fabulous shoe store. Just across the street is a
busy bar where the locals all grab their
espresso in the morning.
Many of the rooms that feature a queen size bed
have, actually,
two twin beds that are either joined or separated
depending on your requirements.
The bathrooms are quite large with highest
quality fixtures and beautiful tile work. The
owner always provides a double set of sheets and towels, too.
We have personally stayed in this property. Our
evaluation is:
- First class, clean, comfortable, spacious
apartments
- The location couldn't be more central to
historic Florence
- Very quiet and because of the decor, also a
peaceful refuge from the bustling streets
below
- Be sure you can carry your bags up
two or three flights of stairs. I didn't have
any trouble with my suitcase and was
rewarded with a lovely stay.
